Keeping Children Safe in Education 2026 is in force

The 2026 edition of Keeping Children Safe in Education applies from 1 September 2026. It is schools' guidance, but it shapes how schools work with your home on safeguarding.

What to do

  • Check that key workers know who each child's designated safeguarding lead at school is.
  • Agree how the home and the school share safeguarding concerns quickly.
  • Keep education contacts current in each child's plan.
